The video of the girl consuming poison in front of the police surfaced on Sunday.
A 22-year-old woman, Pinky Nayak, allegedly consumed a poisonous substance inside the Maharajpur police station premises in Chhatarpur district on Saturday. Police immediately rushed her to Maharajpur Hospital, from where she was referred to the District Civil Hospital due to her critical condition. Doctors have kept her under 24-hour observation. A video of the incident surfaced on Sunday.
In the video, Pinky is seen tearing open a packet and consuming its contents, saying,
These people have ruined our lives. We are taking our own lives.
As police rushed out, an officer repeatedly asked what she had consumed, but she did not respond. Another officer urged her to spit it out, to which she replied,
These people have ruined our lives. We are being subjected to a lot of atrocities.
She was then taken to hospital with the help of a woman police officer.

Brother filed an assault case against neighbors
SP Rajat Saklecha said,
Pinky’s brother Prashant Nayak is a monitored criminal in the area. On July 6, he had filed an FIR accusing his neighbor Santosh Raikwar and his associates of assault.After this, Kishan Kushwaha, who lives in the same neighborhood, had filed a case against Prashant Nayak and his associates for demanding extortion. He had also mentioned being threatened with death. Police were investigating both cases.
Threat allegations under probe
On August 1, Pinky, Prashant and their mother told police that Santosh Raikwar arrived at their house on two motorcycles with Rahul Purohit, Satish Purohit and another man. They alleged Santosh was carrying a gun and threatened them to withdraw their case.
SP Rajat Saklecha said a separate case was registered against Santosh Raikwar based on the family’s complaint. He said Pinky consumed the poisonous substance after stepping out of the police station while her statement was being recorded. Police are investigating all three cases separately, examining CCTV footage, and legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
Pinky’s family has handed over a video to the police showing Santosh threatening with a gun.
‘Police colluded with the accused after taking money’
Pinky’s brother Prashant Nayak said,
We had been visiting the police station for the last one month. Despite the FIR being registered, the accused of assault were not arrested. The TI (Station House Officer) made a deal with the accused. Because of this, Santosh Raikwar fearlessly came to our house to threaten us.My sister Pinky consumed poison only because of the police’s inaction.
District Hospital’s duty doctor Anand Tripathi said,
Pinky has been kept under 24-hour observation. Only after this will her condition be completely clear.
Pinky is undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
