In Rewa, on Tuesday night, Amit Kol, the district president of the Congress ST Cell, was stabbed to death in broad daylight. Three unknown assailants on two motorcycles attacked him with multiple stabs near HDFC Bank in Shanti Vihar, Civil Line police station area.
Seriously injured Amit was taken to the hospital, but doctors could not save him. Around 10 PM, Amit Kol had gone to a shop near HDFC Bank in Shanti Vihar to buy cigarettes. It was during this time that the attack occurred.
Police have seized two motorcycles from the scene, which the accused left behind while fleeing. After the incident, there is widespread anger among Congress workers and the tribal community.
Eyewitnesses said – attacked without any dispute
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers directly targeted Amit without any argument or dispute and continuously stabbed him. The attack was so swift that he did not get a chance to defend himself. Due to several serious injuries, he fell bleeding profusely on the spot.
People tried to catch the culprits
During the attack, people made noise and tried to catch the culprits. Seeing the crowd grow, the accused abandoned both motorcycles and fled on foot, taking advantage of the darkness. Local residents took the injured Amit to the hospital, but he died during treatment due to excessive bleeding.
Police and Forensic team collected evidence
Upon receiving information about the incident, Superintendent of Police Dr. Gurukaran Singh, two Additional Superintendents of Police, two CSPs, the Station House Officer, and police force reached the spot. The FSL team inspected the crime scene and collected important evidence.
Police seized both motorcycles abandoned by the accused and began efforts to reach the culprits based on their registration numbers and technical information.
Police searching for clues from CCTV footage
The incident occurred near HDFC Bank, so the police are scanning the CCTV footage of the bank and surrounding areas. Officials believe that the cameras might have captured the activities of the accused and their escape route.
Shopkeepers and eyewitnesses are also being interrogated. Police are trying to identify the attackers based on technical evidence, mobile location, and CCTV footage.

Police have registered a case of murder against unknown accused. The investigation is exploring old enmity, political rivalry, personal disputes, and other potential causes.
SP Dr. Gurukaran Singh said that separate police teams have been formed to arrest the accused. The case will be solved soon.

Father’s Retirement from Police after 3 days
Amit Kol’s father is in the Madhya Pradesh Police. He is currently the station in-charge of Rajendragram police station in Anuppur district. His retirement is on July 31. The murder of his son three days before his retirement has plunged the entire family into deep shock.

Currently, the police are investigating every aspect of the murder. Based on seized motorcycles, CCTV footage, forensic reports, and technical evidence, the search for the accused has been intensified.
