A cloudburst triggered a flash flood in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar on Saturday, inundating several houses. Authorities ordered the closure of schools in Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban as a precaution.
In Kerala, torrential rain battered several southern districts, including Kochi, where 361 mm of rainfall was recorded in 24 hours. The downpour triggered landslides that claimed six lives.
Gujarat also witnessed widespread flooding after heavy rain lashed districts including Surat and Morbi. More than 27,000 people were shifted to safer locations, while 53 others were rescued. Ambika taluka in Surat recorded 611 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.
