
A private bus met with an accident this morning on the Tisa-Bairagarh main road in Chamba district.
At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured after a private bus overturned in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Saturday morning. The injured passengers have been admitted to Tissa Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
According to police, the accident took place near Chalunj Morh, a short distance from Bairagarh. The private bus, operated by Sharma Coach, had left Bairagarh for Chamba at around 7 am. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, following which the bus overturned and fell onto another road.
Chamba SP Vijay Kumar Saklani said the bus was carrying around 25 passengers at the time of the accident.

The bus was removed from the road with the help of a JCB.
Rescue operation launched
Eyewitnesses said panic spread at the spot immediately after the bus overturned. Several passengers were trapped inside the vehicle, with some falling on top of others.
A JCB was brought in to remove the overturned bus, following which rescue teams and locals pulled out the trapped passengers. The injured were shifted to Tissa Hospital for treatment.
The accident site is located in a difficult-to-reach area, making rescue and communication operations challenging. Officials have not yet been able to establish complete contact with the administration at the spot, resulting in delays in confirming the exact number of casualties.
Officials said the death toll could rise as rescue operations continue. The full extent of the damage will become clear after administrative and police officials reach the site and complete their assessment.
