India Urges UN Map Correction; Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Territory Dispute

India has clarified its position on the United Nations’ Equal Earth map. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday that the proposal does not mean recognizing any particular map.

The ministry said that the proposal makes no decision regarding countries’ borders, disputed areas, or the names of places.

The proposal concerns displaying a world map in which each country’s area appears in proportion to its actual size.

In its statement, India said that the entire territory of India, including Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, should be shown according to the official Indian map.

The ministry said that India’s position on its sovereignty and territorial integrity is clear and unwavering.
