Major Hamza Arif of Indore died in a road accident in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Late Thursday night, while returning after completing his duty, his army’s Tata Safari suddenly collided with a camel that came onto the road. The collision was so severe that the SUV overturned four to five times and skidded for about 100 meters.
Major Hamza died in the accident, while two lieutenants are seriously injured. It had only been a month since his marriage. On Friday, the army informed the family about the accident.
On Friday, family members left Jaisalmer for Indore with the mortal remains. By Saturday evening, the mortal remains will be brought to Mhow. It will reach Indore late at night. On Sunday, his last rites will be performed with full military honors.
Was returning to the Army Station after completing duty
The accident occurred on Thursday night around 12:30 AM in the Thaiyat Army Area, about 18 kilometres from Jaisalmer city. Major Hamza was returning to the army station with his colleagues after completing duty.
Suddenly, the army’s Tata Safari collided with a camel that appeared in front of it. After the collision, the vehicle overturned four to five times and skidded for about 100 meters. The camel also died in the accident.

Two Lieutenants Seriously Injured
After the accident, there was chaos at the scene. All three officers were immediately taken to Thayat Army Hospital, where doctors declared Major Hamza dead. Lieutenant Ayushman and Lieutenant Abhinav Rathore, injured in the accident, are undergoing treatment. Major Hamza’s body was post-mortemed at the Government Jawahir Hospital. The accident is being jointly investigated by the police and military police.

On Friday morning, army officials reached the family’s home in Rajendra Nagar, Indore, and informed them about the accident. Upon receiving the news, the family was plunged into grief. Relatives, acquaintances, and people from the neighborhood started arriving at the house. A wave of mourning also spread throughout the area.

Councilor Prashant Badve informed that Major Hamza’s family left Jaisalmer for Indore by road with the mortal remains on Friday. On Saturday late evening, the mortal remains will first be taken to Mhow military cantonment. There, the army will pay tribute with full military honors. After this, the mortal remains will be brought to Indore late at night by military vehicle.
Served the country for nine years
Major Hamza, a resident of Rajendra Nagar, had been serving in the Indian Army for about nine years. He was respected among his colleagues for his discipline, dedication, and commitment. The news of his demise has cast a pall of grief over the entire region.
Family includes parents, wife, and three sisters
Major Hamza is survived by his parents, newlywed wife, and three sisters. Two of his sisters live in Saudi Arabia. His father is retired from RR CAT and is of a religious disposition. He is a devotee of Lord Ganesha. A month ago, the house was filled with wedding festivities; now, preparations are underway for the son’s final farewell.
