As soon as the news of eggs being thrown at the idol was received, people from Hindu organizations gathered outside the building.

In Mazgaon, Mumbai, a clash broke out between two groups while bringing a Ganesh idol. Vivek Rane, Deputy Secretary of the Ganpati Mandal, said that when we were taking out the Ganpati arrival procession.

Eggs were thrown at the procession from a building about 30 to 40 meters away from the pandal. This incident is objectionable. We are demanding strict action against the responsible people.

After the incident, a clash broke out between both sides. After tension escalated between both groups, police reached the spot and are trying to control the situation.

More than 10,000 Ganesh pandals in Mumbai

This year, Ganesh Utsav in Maharashtra will begin on September 14. There are approximately 10,600 public Ganesh mandals in Mumbai, but around 2,500 mandals have obtained permission for the 10-day festival. It is estimated that around 28 lakh Ganesh idols will be installed across Maharashtra.

An online single-window system has been launched in Mumbai for pandal permissions. Through this, NOCs from the BMC along with local police and traffic police can also be obtained online. Applications can be submitted until September 13.

This year, major mandals in Mumbai have prepared different themes. Andhericha Raja features a replica of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, while some pandals have chosen superhero-like themes.
