In the final of the men’s javelin throw event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal for the country. Neeraj secured second place in the medal tally with his best throw of 85.83 meters in his second attempt.

In this tough competition, Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage won the gold medal with a throw of 89.75 meters, while Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem was eliminated from the competition after just three throws.

As soon as Neeraj became a medal winner, celebrations erupted at his home in Khandra village, Panipat. During a phone conversation with Dainik Bhaskar App, Neeraj Chopra’s father, Satish Chopra, said that he was extremely happy that his son had once again brought a medal to the country, but they had hoped for a gold medal. He cited two main reasons for his son missing out on the gold medal. The first reason was the cold, windy weather there. He said-

Due to the strong wind, no one could overtake the player who made his first best throw. Everyone kept falling behind. The second reason was the injury Neeraj sustained in recent days. However, in every major competition, every player is under pressure. Despite this, we are very happy that our son received a silver medal.

The father said that all the family members were out, which is why they could not watch the match together this time.
