Today marks the 12th day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session. Since 31 July, both Houses have witnessed repeated disruptions over theft of offerings at the Ram Mandir.
On Monday, the Lok Sabha passed, without discussion, a Bill to increase the sanctioned strength of the Supreme Court, including the Chief Justice of India, from 34 to 38 judges.
The Rajya Sabha also passed the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
Eight Bills were scheduled for the session, of which three have now been passed by both Houses: the Vande Mataram Bill, the Public Examinations (Paper Leak) Amendment Bill, and the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill.
The Births and Deaths Registration (Amendment) Bill, the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, the MSME Development (Amendment) Bill, the Foreign Contribution (FCRA) Amendment Bill, and the Developing India Education Foundation Bill are yet to receive Parliament’s approval.
The government is expected to push for the passage of these Bills in both Houses today.
The theft of Ram Mandir offerings is expected to trigger fresh disruptions in both Houses today.
