Two brothers in Maharashtra’s Pune district allegedly assaulted their elderly parents with sticks on a public road over the sale of land registered in their mother’s name, police said.
The incident took place on the evening of August 30 in Indapur, while a video of the assault surfaced later.
According to Pune Police, 65-year-old farmer Tukaram Raut filed a complaint stating that he and his ailing wife, Anjana, had gone for a walk when their two sons arrived in a car. The brothers allegedly questioned them about the sale of land in their mother’s name before beating them with sticks.

Local residents and passersby intervened and rescued the couple. They were taken to the Indapur Sub-District Hospital for treatment.
Raut suffered injuries to his back, face, thigh and shoulder, while his wife sustained injuries to her wrist and waist.
In his complaint, Raut alleged that his sons had also threatened to kill him if the land deal was not cancelled.
Both brothers reportedly live separately with their families in Malwadi, Indapur. Police have registered a case against them at Indapur police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
