Director Vishal Chaturvedi, who directed parts of Hanuman, announced his next film, Ram Bola, on Ganesh Chaturthi. The film will be based on the life of poet Goswami Tulsidas. He announced the project in collaboration with production house Mahavir Jain.
Another filmmaker announced a film with the same title
On the same day, filmmaker Dr Chandra Prakash Dwivedi also announced a film titled Ram Bola. According to the announcement, Dwivedi will direct the film, while Madhu Mantena and Mandira Dwivedi will produce it.
Both films are based on Tulsidas
The title clash has led to a dispute between the two filmmakers, as both projects carry the same name and are based on the life of poet Tulsidas.

Dispute over the title ‘Ram Bola’
A dispute has started after two films with the same title and subject were announced on the same day. A source close to Mahavir Jain told Dainik Bhaskar that the title Ram Bola is registered in Dr Vishal Chaturvedi’s name. According to the source, Chaturvedi had approached Mahavir Jain earlier with the film’s idea, after which work on the project began. The source said the film’s rights are with Vishal Chaturvedi and Mahavir Jain Productions.
Chandraprakash Dwivedi claims he owns the title rights
Chandraprakash Dwivedi objected to Chaturvedi’s announcement, claiming that he holds the rights to the title Ram Bola. He said he had discussed the project with Mahavir Jain only recently, after which Jain announced the film while claiming its rights.

Matter may be decided in court
Speaking to Dainik Jagran, Dwivedi said he had been discussing the project with Mahavir Jain for the past few months. He also claimed that he had sent Jain an email along with an eight-minute video about the film. Dwivedi said the dispute would now be taken up with the Writers’ Association and could also reach the court.
‘Hanuman Ansh’ continues its strong box office run
Meanwhile, Hanuman Ansh continues to perform strongly at the box office despite being called a disaster in its first week. The film earned ₹8.25 crore on its 39th day, its sixth Monday, after collecting ₹22 crore on Sunday. Its worldwide collection has now reached ₹279 crore.
Becomes third highest-grossing film of 2026
With a worldwide collection of ₹279 crore, Hanuman Ansh has become the third highest-grossing film released in 2026. It has also moved ahead of films including Mirzapur, Awarapan 2, Bhoot Bangla, Cocktail 2 and Bantwara 1947 in terms of box office earnings.
IMPAA reveals who registered the title
A note from the film association IMPAA (Indian Motion Picture Artistes Association) has now surfaced amid the controversy, clearly stating that Vishal Chaturvedi registered the title ‘Ram Bola’. He registered the title ‘Ram Bola’ (Awadhi) at the association’s meeting on June 23, after which the association issued this letter on September 4.
According to the note-
- The registration is valid until June 22, 2027. After that, the title will have to be registered again.
- IMPPA has clarified that the title must be used in a uniform text style, and different upper- and lower-case letters cannot be used for separate words.
- The title has been registered exclusively for use by the concerned banner. It cannot be transferred to or used by any other person or banner.
- If the banner does not wish to use the title, the registration can be surrendered, after which the title can be registered in favour of another applicant.
