The 36-year-old Shan Masood has been ruled out for the second test of the Pakistan tour of West Indies 2026 with a finger injury.
He sustained an injury on his finger from a delivery from Jayden Seales while batting in the first test of the series, where West Indies secured a 90-run victory.
Shan Masood scored 109 runs in the first innings, but was dismissed for 3 runs in the second innings.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the left-hander is also in some doubt for the start of the upcoming test series with England from August 19.
“Pakistan Test batter Shan Masood has been ruled out of the second Test against the West Indies after sustaining an injury to the index finger of his left hand during the first Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad,” said the PCB.
“Following a scan and clinical assessment, Shan is currently undergoing treatment from the Pakistan team medical panel.”
“His availability for the first Test against England, starting 19 August at Leeds, will depend on his recovery and clinical progress. In the meanwhile, he will remain with the team,” the statement concluded.
Shan Masood has played 47 tests and has scored 2765 runs at an average of 31.06 with seven centuries and 14 fifties.
Meanwhile, PCB has included Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel in the squad before the first test. On the other hand, uncapped Awais Zafar is in contention to earn a debut.
Pakistan are currently at the bottom of the WTC 2025-27 points table while West Indies is one spot above the visitors.
The second test of the series will be played between August 02-06, 2026, at Port of Spain.
