Snakes Spotted at Shah Rukh Khans Mannat Bungalow; Rescue Operation Underway

Two snakes were spotted on the lawn of Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic bungalow, Mannat, in Mumbai on 17 August. A rescue team was called in immediately as a precaution. One of the snakes was safely rescued, while the second could not be found and is believed to be somewhere inside the property.

According to a Hindustan Times report, a snake rescuer was alerted at around 8 pm on Monday after two snakes were spotted at Mannat. A search operation was then launched across the bungalow premises, during which one snake was found and safely captured.

The rescued snake was around 8 feet long and was identified as a Dhaman, or Indian rat snake. The species is non-venomous. The snake was reportedly found hiding beneath a staircase on the property.

Second snake still missing after search

The rescue operation could not locate the second snake. According to reports, it escaped when people began moving around the premises. The search continued until late evening, but the snake could not be found.

Staff relieved after learning the snake was non-venomous

Mannat’s security guards and staff were reportedly relieved after learning that the rescued snake was non-venomous.

The bungalow is officially known as Mannat Lands End and is located in the Bandstand area of Bandra, Mumbai. The sea-facing property has become one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, with fans regularly gathering outside hoping to see Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh is currently not staying at Mannat

Shah Rukh Khan and his family are currently staying in a luxury apartment in Bandra as renovation work continues at Mannat.

According to reports, the family is living at Pooja Casa, a four-storey luxury apartment in Pali Hill, Bandra, at a reported monthly rent of ₹24 lakh. They are expected to stay there for around two years.

The apartment was built by film producer Vashu Bhagnani. Ownership of the property is reportedly with his son Jackky Bhagnani and daughter Deepshikha Deshmukh.

Shah Rukh bought Mannat before he could afford its full price

Shah Rukh Khan first saw the bungalow in 1997, while shooting for Yes Boss. The sea-facing property immediately caught his attention, but buying it was a major financial challenge.

In 2001, when he got the opportunity to purchase the house, Shah Rukh decided to go ahead despite not having enough money to pay the full price.

According to an account by his close associate Shabina Khan in The SRK Story, Shah Rukh had around ₹2 crore when he bought the property, while the bungalow reportedly cost around ₹30 crore. He took a loan to cover the remaining amount.

Gauri designed the interiors of Mannat

After buying the bungalow, Shah Rukh faced another challenge — its interiors.

He approached an interior designer, but the designer’s fee was reportedly too high. Shah Rukh then asked his wife, Gauri Khan, to take charge of the interiors.

Gauri accepted the challenge and designed the home herself. Over the years, Mannat has become one of the most famous celebrity homes in India and is now reportedly worth more than ₹200 crore.

Shah Rukh will next be seen in ‘King’

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his next film, King.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the action thriller is scheduled to release in theatres on 24 December 2026. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Raghav Juyal and Rani Mukerji in important roles.
