Salman Khan and filmmaker Subhash Ghai have mainly worked together in the 2008 film ‘Yuvvraaj’.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has revealed that Salim Khan once sent Salman Khan to apologise to him following an altercation between the two.

Altercation happened before ‘Yuvvraaj’

The incident took place before Ghai and Salman worked together on Yuvvraaj. According to Ghai, Salman allegedly abused him at a party, and the argument eventually turned into a physical scuffle.

Salman’s brother approached Ghai for the film

Speaking to Times Now, Ghai recalled how Salman’s brother approached him about making a film with the actor. He said, “For Yuvvraaj, Salman Khan’s brother approached me and said, ‘Why don’t you make a film with Salman?’ I said, ‘Is Salman ready for it? Because I have never worked with him.’ He said, ‘He is ready.’”

Ghai then began working on the film’s story. He said, “My challenge was that I had to cast the actor in a character he had never played before.”

Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif also starred

Released in 2008, Yuvvraaj featured Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in key roles. Despite its star-studded cast, the film did not perform well at the box office.

Ghai said – Star image can overshadow the character On the film not being successful, Ghai said, “Sometimes these characters don’t work because the star overshadows the character. Instead of playing the character, they end up playing themselves.”

Ghai further added, “After a point, stars become a caricature of themselves. How many times can you repeat yourself? Hats off to Bachchan Sahab, i.e., Amitabh Bachchan, for playing so many different characters.”

Had a fight with Salman at a party

Recalling the incident of the fight, Ghai said, “We had a fight before the film. There was a scuffle. After this, his (Salman’s) father scolded him.”

He explained, “We were at a party. Salman was drunk. He was saying something wrong, so I told him, ‘Don’t say that.’ He had some resentment towards me over something.”

Ghai said, “He asked me, ‘Why did you do this or that?’ I said that as a director, this is my decision. He started abusing me. I asked him not to do so. After this, we had an argument there.”

Salim Khan sent Salman to apologise

According to Ghai, Salim Khan resolved the matter after this argument. He said, “The next morning, Salim Sahab called me and told me that Salman had told his mother about all these things.”

Ghai said, “He told me that I (Salim) have scolded him. After this, he sent Salman to my house to apologise. Salman came and apologised gracefully.”

He further added, “After this, I started liking him because he respected his father a lot. I ended the matter right there. We often used to visit each other’s homes. After this, we did a film together.”
