Maharashtra Deputy CM and NCP chief Sunetra Pawar has appealed to opposition leaders not to politicize the death of her husband, Ajit Pawar. She said that no one else could understand the grief of Ajit Pawar’s mother, children, and herself.
Sunetra Pawar said in Pune on Thursday that then-Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and four others were killed in a plane crash near Baramati Airport in Pune district on January 28. She said that the void created in Maharashtra by Ajit Dada’s death is immense.
Her statement came a day after NCP (SP) Working President Supriya Sule accused the NCP of enjoying power following the crash. This information was reported by news agency PTI.
Sunetra said-Do not make the crash a political issue
Sunetra Pawar said, “The void created in Maharashtra by Ajit Dada’s death is immense. Who can understand this pain better than his mother, his children, and me? Therefore, do not make Ajit Dada’s crash a political issue.”
He said that the family and others associated with it wanted a decisive action after the incident. Efforts are being made in this direction.
Sunetra said that they had already met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. She said, “Everyone knows about this. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has made a promise in the Assembly and is making every effort to fulfill it.”
Appeal to Give Investigative Agencies Time
The Deputy CM said that she had faith in the law and the Constitution. The investigative agencies are doing their job and should be given time.
She said that repeatedly appearing before the media does not guarantee any update in the investigation. Sunetra said, “Repeatedly appearing before the media does not mean that there is any update in the investigation. There is a suspicion that this may amount to repeated media trials.”
She appealed to everyone making statements on the matter to think about Ajit Pawar’s mother, children, and their grief. Sunetra said, “Everyone should think about who could be more distressed by this incident than Ajit Dada’s mother, his children, and me.”
Supriya Sule had accused the NCP
At a press conference in Pune on Wednesday, Supriya Sule had said, “Why was an FIR not registered regarding the death of my brother, my cousin Ajit Pawar? We have lost a prominent member of our family. The Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP is part of the current government. Did even one of their 40 MLAs or 8-9 ministers say a word demanding an FIR or a proper investigation into my brother’s death?”
Sule had said, “Our brother is gone, and they are enjoying power.”
