Tej Pratap Yadav, sent to 14-day judicial custody in the Bihar Bandh violence case, is quite distressed in Beur Jail. He has demanded an AC barrack and home-cooked food, which the jail administration has denied. Due to a pre-existing cardiac condition mentioned in the warrant, the jail administration has placed him under a medical protocol separate from the usual procedure.
After complaining of chest pain and restlessness, he was taken to the jail hospital three times. During this time, he demanded home-cooked food, a comfortable bed, and better arrangements, but the jail administration gave a clear message that no facilities outside the jail manual could be provided.
After his arrest on Saturday night, he was sent to Beur Jail. In total, Tej Pratap Yadav has been in Beur for three nights.

After receiving the order from the court late on Saturday night, Tej Pratap was brought from Naubatpur police station to Beur Jail. At the main gate of the jail, his entry process was completed like that of ordinary prisoners, but due to a cardiac problem being mentioned in the warrant, he was taken directly to the jail hospital before being sent to the barracks.
Doctors checked ECG, blood pressure, sugar, and other necessary parameters at night. After the initial check-up was found to be normal, he was sent to the division ward around 9 AM.

Kept in the division ward, more surveillance than normal prisoners
In Beur Jail, the division ward is a separate part from the routine barracks, where special category prisoners are kept. However, there are no special facilities here. Tej Pratap was also kept in this ward, but the security cordon around him was significantly increased compared to normal days.
Sources say, additional security personnel were deployed around his ward. No other prisoner was allowed to go near him. Meetings were also completely restricted. Senior jail officials kept inquiring about his condition from time to time.
Did not get home food, first refused then ate jail food
On Sunday morning at breakfast time, Tej Pratap requested permission to order food from home. He said that due to health reasons, he wanted homemade food. But jail officials clarified that it was not possible without court permission. After this, he was given food prepared in the jail kitchen. Initially, Tej Pratap refused to take the food. Later, officials explained that until permission is granted, only jail food would be provided. After this, he had a light meal of dal, rice, and vegetables.
Desire for a comfortable bed and AC
According to jail sources, Tej Pratap also requested a better bed and a cooler place. He cited his health. However, the jail administration clarified that only standard facilities available in the jail are provided to all inmates.
Court permission is required for any special facility. Officials assured him that if doctors indicate a medical necessity for any additional facility, it would be considered as per rules.
Health deteriorated twice a day, doctors said reports normal
On Sunday afternoon, Tej Pratap complained of chest pain and anxiety. He was immediately taken to the jail hospital. Doctors re-examined him. Blood pressure, sugar, and cardiac parameters were found to be normal.
Around five in the evening, he again reported feeling heaviness in his chest. The jail administration took no risks and placed him under medical observation for the third time. Doctors continued constant monitoring. Jail officials say that his condition is currently stable, but the medical team is checking at regular intervals.
Tej Pratap became the most talked-about topic inside the jail
Jail sources say that after Tej Pratap’s entry, there was discussion about him throughout the jail premises. However, the administration did not allow any inmate to meet him. Due to security reasons, movement around the ward was restricted. Senior officials continuously took updates.
14 days judicial custody, bail also not granted
Tej Pratap Yadav was arrested in the Bihar Bandh violence case and presented in court. The court sent him to Beur Jail for 14 days judicial custody. Later, the bail application filed was heard, but the court refused to grant relief.
An FIR has been registered against him under more than 12 sections, including attempt to murder, rioting, obstruction of government work, and obscene display. Police say that the investigation of the case is ongoing and the role of other accused is also being investigated.

What next?
Tej Pratap’s next legal strategy could be to file a bail application in the High Court. On the other hand, the police are advancing the investigation in the Bihar bandh violence case based on videos, CCTV footage, and other digital evidence.
The Beur Jail administration is keeping a round-the-clock watch on his health. If doctors ever suspect a serious cardiac risk, he can be immediately referred to a higher medical institution.
