In the retaliatory action by Udham Singh Nagar police, one accused was shot in the leg and the crowd beat up the accused.
Police were taking three gang-rape accused persons to the scene of the crime on Tuesday morning when the accused attempted to flee. Locals present at the spot chased them and beat them up.
Police somehow rescued the accused from the crowd and took them back into custody. Meanwhile, late on Monday night, there was also a police encounter with the accused who had gang-raped the young woman by taking her to the forest and then throwing her in an injured condition into the bushes.
When police tried to stop three accused travelling on a bike, they opened fire at the police team. In retaliatory action, one accused was shot in the leg. His treatment is ongoing at Rudrapur District Hospital. Police have recovered illegal pistols and live cartridges from the possession of all three accused.

The complete news in chronological order
1. Four friends stopped and kidnapped a 19-year-old girl, originally from the Garhwal region (works in a company in Sidcul, Rudrapur). On Saturday night, she was present on Bhurarani Road with one of her female friends and two male friends.
Just then, three suspicious youths riding on the same bike arrived there. They stopped all four, got into a scuffle, and forcibly started taking them away.
2. Companions jumped from moving bike, girl kidnapped. On the way, as soon as they got a chance, the victim’s female friend and one of her companions jumped from the moving bike and escaped. However, the victim and her other friend remained in the custody of the accused.
The accused took them through Kashipur Flyover towards a dense forest and dropped off the victim’s other companion on the way.
3. Gangrape in the forest and thrown in bushes. Taking her to the forest, all three accused committed gang rape with the young woman one by one. After the incident, the accused threw her in a distressed condition in the bushes behind the Chhatrapur-Bhurarani under-construction railway underpass (Metropolis underpass) and fled.
4. Victim found in critical condition in bushes. When the search began after the young woman went missing, police found her in critical condition in the bushes. She was immediately taken to the hospital for medical tests.
Based on the complaint of the victim’s friend and the victim’s statement, police registered a case against the three unknown accused and started the search.
5. Police encounter and firing. Under the instructions of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and guidance of SSP Ajay Ganpati, police teams conducted an intensive checking operation. Late Monday night in the Bagwada Chowki area, when police tried to stop three suspects on a bike, they opened fire at the police team.
6. Bullet hit in retaliatory action and all three arrested. In police retaliatory action, the main accused Gurbaz alias Manu (resident of Gadarpur) was shot in the leg. Police arrested the injured Gurbaz along with his two other associates Joga Singh and Ravinder (both residents of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh) from the spot.
7. Treatment in hospital and legal action. Police have recovered illegal pistols and live cartridges from the possession of the accused. The injured accused Gurbaz is undergoing treatment in police custody at Rudrapur District Hospital.
The SSP reached the hospital and conducted interrogation and has directed the officers to file a chargesheet after gathering strong evidence.
