Uddhav Thackeray was visiting Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Thursday.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray said on Thursday that his family was being targeted in connection with the Disha Salian case. He claimed that, “We have absolutely no connection with this case.”
Thackeray said in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, “My name is also being mentioned. Your name will also be mentioned. Modi’s and Trump’s names could also be mentioned. Why are names being dragged into this at all? This is politically motivated. How long will we continue to tolerate it?”
He said, “There has been enough needless character assassination, and if this continues, I will be forced to take legal action without consulting anyone.”

Uddhav said that names were being repeatedly dragged into the matter. We remained silent all this time because the government itself had set up an SIT to investigate it. We maintained our silence to allow them to conduct the investigation as they saw fit.
He said, “We had decided that we would say nothing until the investigation was complete.” Thackeray warned angrily, “We have nothing to do with this case. That young woman lost her life.”
Thackeray said, “I did not know her. I had never met her. I have no connection with her or with what happened. Yet my name is being dragged into this.”
Disha Salian died after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai.
Disha’s father alleges: An attempt was made to suppress the case
After the Bombay High Court’s directions, Disha’s father, Satish Salian, said that Disha had been gang-raped and murdered. An attempt had been made to suppress the matter. He had sought an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray and others.
He had also said, “I have been waiting for this for six years. There is no reason to be happy. I have lost my daughter. I feel relieved today. I folded my hands and expressed my gratitude to the judge.”

Satish Salian’s lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, had said that action would be taken against those against whom evidence was found during the investigation. If no evidence was found against a person, they would not be made an accused. If the CBI’s report was negative, the family would retain the right to object to it and file a protest petition.
According to Ojha, the FIR also names Aditya Thackeray, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea, Aditya Thackeray’s bodyguard, Rhea Chakraborty, Parambir Singh, Uddhav Thackeray, Sachin Waze and members of the previous SIT as accused, alleging that they suppressed the case.
Initial investigation was closed within three months
During a hearing on 2 September, the Bombay High Court reprimanded Mumbai Police for not registering an FIR for six years and said the police investigation raised more questions than answers.
The initial investigation into the Disha case was closed in about three months. In October 2020, the police called the death a suicide. The case was reopened in December 2023 and an SIT was formed. It too maintained that she had died by suicide.
