Rainfall continued across several districts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on Sunday as the monsoon remained active in the region.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Narmada River in Mandla began flowing above the danger mark following heavy rainfall.
In Dindori, authorities declared a holiday for all schools from nursery to Class 12 on Monday after heavy rain.
The weather system is expected to remain active in the state, with the monsoon trough and a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal likely to trigger another spell of rainfall over the next few days.
In Uttar Pradesh, continuous monsoon rain has caused several rivers to swell. More than 10 rivers, including the Ganga, Yamuna, Sharda and Saryu, are flowing close to the danger mark.
Rain is expected across the state on Monday, with a very heavy rain alert issued for Lalitpur and Mahoba.
Meanwhile, the monsoon remains active in Bihar, where several districts have received rain over the past few days.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rainfall in 20 districts on Monday and warned of the possibility of lightning in these areas.
