Uttarakhand Roadways has implemented a special fare discount scheme.

Uttarakhand Roadways has given major relief to passengers in view of declining ridership during the monsoon. From Saturday (August 1), the transport corporation has implemented a special discount scheme on bus fares.

Now, if a passenger books a round-trip ticket together, they can save up to ₹40 on a base fare of ₹200. Similarly, a discount of up to 15% will be available on group bookings. This scheme will remain in effect until September 30, 2026.

According to the transport corporation, the number of passengers in buses has declined sharply after the onset of rains. In June, about 1.5 lakh passengers were traveling by Roadways buses daily, which was generating a daily revenue of about ₹2.5 crore for the corporation.

During the monsoon, this number has decreased to about 90,000 passengers per day, and revenue has also dropped to approximately ₹1.5 crore. The decision to offer fare discounts has been taken to arrest this decline.

This is how you will save on return tickets

If a passenger books both onward and return tickets together, they will get a 10% discount on the base fare for the onward journey and 10% for the return journey. Base fare means only the basic bus fare.

This does not include reservation charges, toll tax, or other additional charges. For example, if the base fare of a route is ₹200, the passenger will save approximately ₹40.

Instructions for immediate implementation

Transport Corporation’s General Manager (Operations) Kranti Singh informed that instructions to implement the scheme with immediate effect have been sent to all Regional Managers (RM) and Assistant Regional Managers (ARM). This information will also be displayed at bus stations and booking counters.

Number of passengers may increase till september

The Transport Corporation believes that with the discount in fares, people will prioritize bus travel over private vehicles during the monsoon.

This is expected to increase the number of passengers by September, and the corporation’s daily revenue is hoped to reach around ₹2 crore again.
