Yuva Sena workers staged an unusual protest over the growing problem of stray dogs in Nashik, Maharashtra. The workers brought two puppies to the municipal council office in Niphad and left them on the officer’s table.
The workers said that despite repeatedly complaining about stray dogs, the administration had taken no action. They alleged that the administration was not taking the problem seriously.
In a video of the incident, Yuva Sena district chief Vikram Randhave can be seen leaving the puppies on the table of officer Dheeraj Bhamre. Yuva Sena is the youth wing of Shiv Sena.

The protesters say that the increasing number of stray dogs is causing problems for children, the elderly, and women. They claim that many people have been bitten by dogs. Despite repeated complaints and submissions to the administration, no concrete action has been taken to address the problem.
Randhawe demanded a campaign to sterilize stray dogs, make proper arrangements for trapping them, and control their numbers. He said that despite raising the issue for several days, no action had been taken.

The Niphad Nagar Panchayat has launched a campaign to reduce the number of stray dogs. So far, 73 dogs have been sterilized. Two tenders have been issued for this purpose. Officer Dheeraj Bhamare has appealed to the public for their cooperation in this work.
Every day, 5-6 people come to the Niphad sub-district hospital for treatment after being bitten by a dog. More than 100 dog bite cases are reported each month. Anti-rabies vaccine is available at the hospital, Dr. Rajiv said.
