A new low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, IMD has issued a very heavy rainfall alert for 15 districts of Odisha and West Bengal on Monday.

Additionally, an orange alert for rain has been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh.

However, the weather will remain clear today in Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala. Some parts of Maharashtra may experience rain.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall for 2 days in Odisha has affected normal life in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur. So far, over 2.37 lakh people have been moved to relief camps.

The Odisha government has placed the entire state on high alert. All government employees’ leaves have been cancelled, and those who were on leave have been asked to report back to duty immediately.

Orders have been issued to keep schools and colleges closed on Monday in Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore. Several papers of Utkal University have been cancelled.
