The central government has appointed two directors and one joint director to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which has faced criticism over several issues, including the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak.
According to separate orders issued by the Ministry of Personnel on August 27, Indian Police Service officer Ravi Kumar Singh and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Prasanna Venkatesh V have been appointed as directors at the NTA.
Amit Samdariya, a 2016-batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) officer, has been appointed as the joint director at the NTA.
Must assume charge within three weeks
All three orders refer to a Ministry of Personnel circular directing the officers to take charge of their new posts within three weeks of the orders being issued.
The order states that failure to do so will lead to the process of debarment from the Central Staffing Scheme.
Changes in NTA’s examination system
The government recently announced major changes to the NTA’s examination system, including a four-tier process for evaluating examination papers.
It has also announced the removal of 600 experts and the addition of subject matter experts. Several other changes will also be introduced to improve the examination system.
