Yash’s film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups’ was released in theaters on August 26, 2026.
The box office performance of Yash-starrer Toxic has seen a sharp drop after its opening day. The film opened with around ₹101.10 crore on Day 1, but its collections fell significantly over the next three days.
On Day 2, Toxic earned ₹37.65 crore, followed by ₹27.20 crore on Day 3. On Day 4, the film recorded an India net collection of around ₹24.50 crore.
75.8% drop from opening day
By Day 4, the film’s daily collection had dropped by around 75.8% compared with its opening-day earnings. Its total India net collection after four days stands at approximately ₹190.45 crore.
The figures show a steady decline in the film’s daily earnings after its strong opening.
Earnings decline in both Hindi and South markets
Many viewers have cited the film’s storyline as one of the reasons behind the drop in collections. The film’s runtime has also become a talking point. Toxic runs for around 3 hours and 14 minutes, making it important for the narrative to hold the audience’s attention throughout. However, some viewers have found certain portions of the film slow.
Hindi collections also see a sharp drop
Yash is primarily a major South Indian star, but Toxic has witnessed a significant decline across key southern markets, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
In the Hindi market, the film opened with ₹55 crore on Day 1. The collection fell to ₹24.25 crore on Day 2, followed by ₹19.75 crore on Day 3 and just ₹15.50 crore on Day 4.
Kannada market sees fluctuations
In Kannada, Toxic earned ₹23.30 crore on the first day. The collection dropped to ₹8.50 crore on Day 2 and ₹5 crore on Day 3. However, it saw a slight rise on Day 4, when the film collected ₹6.60 crore.
Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam collections remain low
The film collected ₹16 crore in Telugu on its opening day, but the figure dropped sharply to ₹3 crore on Day 2. It earned ₹1.50 crore each on Days 3 and 4.
In Tamil, the film’s collection fell from ₹5.50 crore on Day 1 to just ₹75 lakh on Day 4. The Malayalam market also saw a steep decline, with earnings dropping from ₹1.30 crore on the first day to ₹15 lakh on the fourth day.
KRK claims producers could face heavy losses
Amid the continuing decline in Toxic’s collections, film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan (KRK) claimed on social media that the film’s OTT rights had not been sold before its theatrical release. He further claimed that no OTT platform would now pay more than ₹25 crore for the rights.
Based on these claims, KRK estimated that the film could recover only around ₹150 crore in total and suggested that the producers could face losses of more than ₹500 crore.
However, Dainik Bhaskar does not independently confirm KRK’s claims regarding the film’s OTT rights, total recovery or projected losses.
