The Supreme Court has refused to stay the proposed CJP march to Delhi on September 5.
The court said, “At present, there is no concrete reason to believe that any untoward incident will occur due to this march.”
The petition had sought a stay on the march until the BRICS Summit, scheduled to be held in Delhi on September 12–13.
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said the administration is expected to maintain law and order and ensure that all parties act peacefully, responsibly and in accordance with the law.
CJP says three of four demands remain unfulfilled
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Saturday accused the government of failing to fulfil its demands. In a post on X, the party said the government could not “get away with making unfulfilled promises every time”.
According to the CJP, three of its four demands remain unfulfilled:
- Compensation for the families of students who died.
- Withdrawal of FIRs filed against the students, with no further action against them.
- An apology from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Delhi Police.
The CJP is planning another march in Delhi on September 5 and has appealed to people to join the protest.
The CJP began its protest at Jantar Mantar on June 20, demanding action over the NEET paper leak and alleged examination irregularities. It ended the protest on July 25 after receiving assurances from the government and following the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

On July 20, the CJP marched to Parliament
On July 20, the CJP organized a march to Parliament. However, the Delhi Police denied permission for the march. During the march, protesters were lathi-charged.
SC forms 5-member panel to probe police action
The Supreme Court had constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the police action at Jantar Mantar.
On August 20, the Supreme Court announced the names of a five-member high-powered committee to investigate allegations of police action during the Parliament march. Former Supreme Court judge R Subhash Reddy was appointed as the chairman of the committee.
The committee also includes former Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Ravi Shankar Jha, former Delhi High Court judge Justice Shalinder Kaur, former CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla, and retired Meghalaya DGP Dr LR Bishnoi.
