More than nine rivers are flowing in spate in Bihar, with floods affecting around 34 lakh people across 13 districts. Amid the worsening situation, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in the state from September 8 to 10.
Uttar Pradesh has already received its seasonal monsoon rainfall quota. In the past 24 hours, an average of 4.4 mm rainfall was recorded across 55 districts.
Rainfall is expected in 23 districts, including Varanasi and Prayagraj, on Wednesday.
Rajasthan records 24% rainfall deficit
Rajasthan has received 24% less rainfall than normal during the monsoon season. Only four districts have recorded above-normal rainfall.
However, rainfall activity in the state may increase again from September 12, according to the weather department.
Heavy rain likely in parts of Madhya Pradesh
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in the Rewa and Shahdol divisions of Madhya Pradesh until September 11.
The remaining districts are likely to receive light rainfall. The weather system could become active again after September 12, potentially bringing widespread rain across the state.
