In protest against the poor condition of roads in the Kalyan-Dombivli area of Thane district, two women councillors from Shiv Sena (UBT) staged a unique demonstration on Tuesday. They draped a shawl featuring pictures of pothole-ridden roads around a Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) official.
According to news agency PTI, councillors Swapnali Kene and Aparna Bhoir staged the protest at the KDMC office. They questioned a KDMC sub-engineer about the poor condition of the roads.

The picture shows a road in the Kalyan West area, where rainwater has collected in potholes.
Protest over roads in Kalyan West
Councillors claimed that roads in several areas of Kalyan West are severely damaged and riddled with large potholes. These include Rambaug Line No. 4 and the road right in front of the offices of local public representatives.
The councillors said that once the roads are repaired, they will gladly honour the official with a traditional shawl. No information has yet been provided on when the road repairs will be completed.
