The rebel TMC faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee announced candidates for two Assembly seats in Bengal on Monday, September 14.
Mohammed Eteshamul Haq will contest from Nandigram, while Safiuddin Sheikh will contest from Rejinagar. Bypolls for both seats will be held on October 6.
A dispute between the two factions over the party name, control of the organisation and the election symbol is still ongoing.
Earlier, former CM Mamata Banerjee’s TMC had announced Sanchita Pradhan (Dey) as its candidate from Nandigram and Rabiul Alam Chowdhury from Rejinagar on Sunday.
The Nandigram bypoll was necessitated after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari vacated the seat. The Rejinagar seat fell vacant after the resignation of All India United Development Party (AJUP) founder Humayun Kabir.
The BJP has not yet announced its candidates.
