The Meteorological Department says that due to the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal and the effect of the western disturbances, heavy rain is occurring in Gujarat, Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, and other northeastern states. However, despite this, the rain is still 16.1% less than normal.
According to IMD, the spell of rain will continue in North India till July 31. Heavy rain is likely in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand. Heavy rain will occur in several states, including Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Punjab.
Meanwhile, the flood situation in Assam is still serious, though water has started receding in some areas. So far, 66 people have died. More than 7 lakh people are still affected by the floods.
Due to continuous heavy rain, landslides, and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, 134 roads remained closed till Saturday evening. There is an orange alert for rain in 4 districts until July 30.
Due to bad weather, the Amarnath and Vaishno Devi Yatra, which was suspended for 6 days, resumed on Saturday. The Yatra is operational from the Baltal route. Currently, the Yatra from the Pahalgam route is temporarily closed.
