
“My name is Abaan… save me.” Only this much could come out of his mouth. People pulled him out of the car, but within two minutes of struggling, his breathing stopped. These were the last words of mafia Atiq Ahmed’s youngest son Aban Ahmed (21).
Abaan was going to meet his brother Ali, who was imprisoned in Jhansi jail. He had also bought two romantic novels for his brother. When Ali received the news of the accident in jail, he started crying. Abaan was very dear to him. Perhaps this was the reason why Abaan had met Ali 49 times in 10 months.

On Thursday evening, relatives and Abaan’s brother Ahjam arrived at Jhansi Medical College from Prayagraj. They spoke with the injured.
First, let’s understand how the accident happened?
Abaan Ahmed left for Jhansi, 400 kilometers away from Prayagraj, around 5 AM on Thursday with his 2 friends and 2 relatives. But an accident occurred 70 kilometers before reaching there.
Near Khilli village in Poonch, while trying to save a calf that suddenly appeared on the highway, the Creta car went out of control. It crashed into a concrete wall built on the roadside.
At that time, the car was traveling at a speed of about 120. The collision was so severe that the car flew about 7 feet in the air and its pieces scattered up to 40 feet on the highway. In the accident, Abaan and his friend Sonu died on the spot, while three people were injured.
Broke car doors with rods and pulled people out
Eyewitness Sakesh said, ”I was working at my shop. Suddenly there was a loud explosion. It felt like something had burst. Several people present around the shop ran to the spot. Saw that there was a severe car collision. Immediately called 112 and got an ambulance.
Until the ambulance and police arrived, we ourselves got engaged in rescuing the injured and trapped people. The car doors were jammed. Before the police arrived, we broke the doors with iron rods and pulled out the injured. Later, the police and ambulance took them to the hospital.”

Atiq Ahmed’s son Abaan suffered serious head injuries. His hands and legs were also broken, and he bled profusely, resulting in his death on the spot.
Accident while trying to save a calf, car crashed into wall
Eyewitness Deepak Yadav said – I was going from home to the field. Then I saw that a calf was crossing the highway. To save it, the car driver turned the vehicle to the left. Meanwhile, a biker came, and to save him, the car driver turned the car even more to the left.
The very next moment, the car crashed into a wall built on the roadside. Some people came running. The injured were pulled out of the car. One injured person’s mouth was filled with blood. When we asked his name, he said, “My name is Abaan. Save me.”
After this, he didn’t say anything. His breathing stopped. 10 minutes after calling, the police arrived at the spot. The police took all the injured to the hospital in an ambulance.

One part of the car was damaged; Aban-Sonu were sitting on this side
According to the police, 5 people were sitting in the car. Mohammad Zaid (35) was driving the vehicle, and Abaan Ahmad (21) was sitting next to him. Sonu (24) was on the seat behind Abaan. Next to Sonu were Umar Ahmad (18) and Farooq Ahjam (28).
The car was running close to the middle divider. The car crashed into a concrete wall built on the roadside towards the village. The front part was completely shattered. All airbags deployed.
The left side of the car was more damaged. Abaan was sitting in the front on this side, and Sonu was sitting in the back. Both sitting on the left side died on the spot. Aban suffered serious head injuries. His hands and legs were broken.

The police immediately took the injured Mohammad Zaid, Umar Ahmad and Faruq Ahjam to the hospital.
Aban-Sonu kept writhing in pain for 2 to 5 mins
Eyewitness Ramakant said – Abaan and Sonu kept struggling for about two to five minutes, then their breathing stopped. Ambulance driver Pravesh said – All the injured were brought to CHC Moth. From there, I brought one injured person, Umar, to Jhansi Medical College. He had a fracture in his hand. The condition of all three injured was normal; they were talking.
Village head Brijesh Kumar said – The car hit the divider due to loss of balance. The car’s speed was high. After the accident, about 50 villagers and I reached the spot.

Umar Ahmed, injured in the accident, was sitting in the back seat of the car. He said that the car went out of control due to a brick.

Mohammad Umar, injured in the accident, said – The car was at high speed. Suddenly, after losing control, it crashed into the divider. The collision was so severe that Abaan and his friend Sonu died on the spot.
Umar was not informed about brother Abaan’s death
Lucknow Jail’s Jailer Ritwik Priyadarshi said – Atiq’s elder son Umar has not been informed about Abaan’s death. Information is given only as per the protocol prescribed in the jail.
Family members have contacted lawyers of Prayagraj District Court to allow Atiq Ahmed’s two sons imprisoned in jail to participate in Abaan’s funeral. The lawyers replied that a parole application will have to be filed in the High Court.
Two books and cigarette pack found in the car
The Creta car (UP70 FW2432) belongs to Zaid; it was received as a wedding gift. Zaid is the son-in-law of Atiq’s khaleri, that is, his maternal cousin sister. Two books were found in the car – ‘The Stationery Shop of Tehran’ and ‘The Idiot’. Besides this, a cigarette pack was also found.

Was going to meet Ali in jail with friends and relatives
- Sonu, who lost his life along with Abaan, was a friend. He was a resident of Hatwa. He used to roam around together in friendship.
- Injured Umar is a resident of Hatwa. He is a blood relative of the Atiq family. After bulldozers were run on all houses in Chakiya, Abaan, Ahzam, and family members are staying at Umar’s house in Hatwa. Umar stays with Aban and Ahzam all the time.
- Injured Farooq was a friend of Ahzam Abaan. He is a resident of Mohatsinganj. His father, Mohammad Farooq, used to work in the office as Atiq’s PA. He has also been to jail.
- Injured Mohammad Zaid is a relative of Atiq. He is the son-in-law of Atiq’s sister. He also stays with Ahzam and Abaan all the time.

An animal suddenly came in front of the car. While trying to save it, the car went out of control and hit the divider. After the accident, all five were trapped in the car.
Brother left with the body late at night after post-mortem
Abaan’s body was kept in the post-mortem house of Jhansi Medical College. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to brother Ahjam. Abaan will be buried next to Atiq’s grave in Prayagraj on Friday.
