A government ambulance allegedly hit seven people, including a six-year-old child, inside the Hamidia Hospital premises in Bhopal on Saturday morning. The ambulance was reportedly being driven at high speed in front of the emergency ward.
The incident came to light after a video of the accident surfaced on Monday night, drawing attention to the incident.
Ambulance hits woman, then runs into others
According to police, 29-year-old Pooja Ahirwar, a resident of Itkhedi, had come to Hamidia Hospital with her brother-in-law Dulichand Ahirwar to get her husband, Rithik Ahirwar, treated.
At around 7:40 am, her husband and brother-in-law were inside the hospital, while Pooja was standing near the emergency ward gate with their belongings.
At the same time, the driver of government ambulance MP02AV7712 allegedly approached at high speed and hit Pooja. The ambulance then struck several other people standing nearby.

Six-year-old among seven injured
The injured have been identified as six-year-old Mustaqeen, 18-month-old Aaliya, Sonu Raikwar, Neetu Raikwar, Sabina Khan, Guddi Ahirwar and Pooja Ahirwar.
The victims suffered injuries to different parts of their bodies, including their heads, legs and backs. All seven were treated at Hamidia Hospital.
The accident triggered panic inside the hospital premises.
Witnesses claim driver was drunk
Eyewitnesses claimed that the ambulance driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. However, this allegation has not yet been officially confirmed through a police statement or medical examination.
Police have registered a case against the ambulance driver for allegedly driving negligently based on Pooja Ahirwar’s complaint.
Police have also begun examining the viral video to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the accident.
