Acting on its repeated warnings of strict disciplinary action, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended 22 leaders across various organisational levels in West Bengal as part of a major internal crackdown.

Mandal presidents among suspended party functionaries

The suspended leaders include Mandal presidents and several local-level office-bearers. Party sources said the action follows allegations of extortion, attempts to forcibly occupy Trinamool Congress offices, maintaining links with TMC workers, and other instances of alleged anti-party activities.

Over 250 leaders receive show cause

Over the past three months, the BJP has reportedly issued show-cause notices to more than 250 leaders and workers over disciplinary violations. The latest suspensions signal the party leadership’s determination to enforce organisational discipline and act against those accused of damaging the party’s image or violating its code of conduct.

The move comes as the BJP seeks to strengthen its organisational structure and send a clear message that misconduct and indiscipline will not be tolerated within the party.
