Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote on her official X account (formerly Twitter), “Dear women, whether you have gained or lost weight, how old you are, what you look like, what your body is like or what your skin is like-you do not need to account for any of these things to people who have nothing better to do than comment on other people’s lives.”
Actress and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar also came to his defence
Bharatiya Janata Party leader and South Indian actress Khushbu Sundar wrote in defence of Katrina, “Why is a woman’s age always made a subject of public discussion? As soon as a woman crosses a certain age milestone, society starts judging her in various ways: ‘Is she still at her peak?’, ‘Has she maintained herself?’, ‘Why does she look different now?’, ‘Has she grown old?’.”
“But why are these questions not asked in the case of men? If a man’s hair starts falling out, he is called ‘respected and influential’. If he develops a belly, no one asks where his ‘prime’ has gone. If his hair turns grey, he suddenly becomes ‘salt-and-pepper handsome’, ‘mature’ and ‘charming’. As a man’s age increases, his beauty is also considered to grow with his experience. But as soon as a woman gets older, every wrinkle, every increase in weight, every grey hair and every change in her body becomes a subject of public debate.”
‘I was mocked too’: Khushbu Sundar
At the end of her lengthy post, Khushbu Sundar shared a similar experience from her own life, writing, “When I was overweight, I was mocked. I was even held up as an example of the women whom society considers ‘fat and ugly’.”
“Now that I have lost weight, people are saying that I used injections to do so. In fact, society seems to have already passed judgement that I am taking injections. Katrina, you have always lived your life on your own terms, with dignity, self-respect and grace. Continue to live exactly the same way. A woman has no ‘prime age’. She has one life, and every stage of that life belongs solely to her.”
Hrithik Roshan indirectly supports Katrina, gets trolled
Amid the trolling of Katrina, Hrithik Roshan, who appeared alongside her in the film Bang Bang, has expressed his displeasure. Hrithik liked a post from his official Instagram account which said that Katrina had been people’s crush since childhood, and that many people kept her films and posters. But now, just because she has gained weight, people are saying that her career is over.
After Hrithik liked the post, several people have been trolling him, saying that Pakistani actor Ali Zafar, who defended Katrina, is better than him. Ali Zafar openly supported the actress on the issue and strongly condemned the trolling.

Pakistani actor Ali Zafar, who worked with Katrina in the film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, released a video saying, “What is wrong with us men? Recently, I came across some posts and reels about my co-star. A lot is being said about how she used to look and how she looks now. We all need to look within ourselves, especially us men. We really need to improve ourselves. None of us is perfect in our lives, but we need to recognise that and improve.
Ali Zafar went on to say, “Men have created certain parameters for women’s bodies, and if a woman does not fit those parameters, she is considered wrong. This is wrong. It is not right; it does not feel good. Every person is going through their own struggles, and we do not know what anyone else is going through. We should treat every person well. The concept of beauty and the way people thought about it used to be different. In earlier paintings, body shapes were different, but now they have been made thinner. Men are also expected to have six-packs, which is not realistic.”
Katrina’s statement on post-pregnancy changes goes viral
Katrina had told The Hollywood Reporter about the changes in her body after pregnancy, “When I started modelling and acting, people had a very different perception of beauty. There were certain standards for looking beautiful. But now, for me, looking good means feeling good and healthy from within. To achieve that, I take complete care of myself. This affects my entire body as well as my skin. I believe that when you feel healthy and happy from within, your confidence naturally begins to show on your face and in your personality.”
