Lizard found in icds food, over 50 children fall ill in bankura

More than 50 children fell ill after allegedly consuming food served at an ICDS centre in Bankura’s Onda on Tuesday morning. The incident was reported from the Dhanda ICDS centre in the Punishole gram panchayat area of Onda block. A dead lizard was allegedly found in the cooked food prepared at the centre.

Children begin vomiting after consuming food

According to reports, several children consumed the food before the lizard was noticed. Soon afterwards, the children reportedly started feeling unwell and began vomiting.

As their condition deteriorated, more than 50 children were brought to the Onda Super Speciality Hospital for treatment. The children are currently undergoing medical care.

Over 50 children receive hospital treatment

After receiving information about the incident, local MLA Amarnath Shakha reached the hospital and met the affected children and their families. He took stock of their condition and said the children were currently stable.

MLA visits hospital to assess children

The MLA also suggested that some of the children may have experienced illness due to panic following the discovery of the lizard in the food.

The incident has triggered concern among local residents, who have raised questions over hygiene and food safety at the ICDS centre. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
