Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday claimed that several IIT directors have been asked to contact their alumni and facilitate meetings with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat during his upcoming visit to the US.
According to news agency ANI, Bhagwat is scheduled to visit the US, Canada and Britain from August 25.
During the tour, he is expected to interact with members of the Indian diaspora. The visit has been organised at the invitation of local organisations and institutions associated with the Indian community.
Visit comes during RSS centenary year
The RSS has said Bhagwat’s foreign tour is taking place during the organisation’s centenary year. RSS publicity chief Sunil Ambekar had earlier confirmed that Bhagwat would visit the three countries from August 25 following invitations from organisations and institutions linked to the Indian community abroad.
During the tour, Bhagwat is expected to interact with members of the diaspora on issues related to Indian culture, society and the activities of the RSS.

Earlier, Bhagwat interacted with Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha students in Mumbai. He said younger generations are more honest and patriotic than the older generation and stressed that their views should be heard.
Speaking at the 15th anniversary of the India International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN), Bhagwat said there had been a communication gap with young people, which he linked to the protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Around 2,000 students aged 11 to 19 attended the event.
RSS coordination meeting in Visakhapatnam
Meanwhile, the RSS’s All India Coordination Meeting is scheduled to begin in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday.
Ambekar said on Tuesday that the three-day meeting would begin on August 19 and continue until the evening of August 21. The meeting is expected to bring together representatives of various organisations associated with the Sangh.
