The lack of a transfer policy for Gram Rozgar Sahayaks in Madhya Pradesh is putting the married lives of many women employees under strain. Mona Rajput, posted in Sagar district after marrying in Jabalpur, has been living away from her husband, who says, “If the transfer doesn’t happen, quit the job… we’ll do labour work.”
Mona is not the only one facing the problem. Hundreds of kilometres of separation and growing family disputes have pushed several marriages to the brink. Some women have already divorced, while many others say their families are on the verge of breaking up. The issue has now reached the state government.
First, know why female employees are troubled?
In MP, the disintegration of families has begun due to the non-transfer of Gram Rozgar Sahayaks and Assistant Secretaries. The Employee Welfare Committee says that the marital lives of many female Gram Rozgar Sahayaks are being affected because they are unable to live with their husbands even after marriage.

Azad Adhyapak Sangh (Independent Teachers’ Association) shared the letter of the Employee Welfare Committee on Facebook. On this, Facebook user Mona Prashant Gautam commented, writing, “Our divorce is about to happen. What can be done? Only the Chief Minister can do something, so that the lives of many sisters like me can be saved from being ruined.”
Letter written to ACS regarding the distress of women employees
Rameshchandra Sharma, Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh State Employees Welfare Committee, has written a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, demanding the initiation of the inter-district transfer and relocation process for Gram Rozgar Sahayaks (Village Employment Assistants) and Assistant Secretaries working under the VB-G-Ram-G scheme.
The letter states that the Gram Rozgar Sahayak and Assistant Secretary organisation had applied on July 31, 2026, specifically demanding the transfer of women employees to other districts and blocks.
The Employees Welfare Committee, deeming it appropriate from a humanitarian and administrative perspective, has recommended necessary action from the department.
The committee stated that the guidelines issued by the Madhya Pradesh State Employment Guarantee Council on June 24, 2025, provide for the transfer of Gram Rozgar Sahayaks (Village Employment Assistants) who have served for more than three years to another Gram Panchayat within the same district.
In such cases, the contract with the old Gram Panchayat can be terminated and a new contract can be made with the new Gram Panchayat.

Help women on humanitarian grounds
The letter also states that the Chief Minister had announced on June 28, 2023, that the process of transfer and appointment of Gram Rozgar Sahayaks would be similar to that of Panchayat Secretaries. The committee says that in line with this announcement, the system of inter-district transfers should be implemented.
According to the committee, many female Gram Rozgar Sahayaks have married in other districts, but due to the lack of transfers, they are facing family and social problems. In some cases, marital life has also broken down. Therefore, on humanitarian grounds, the facility of transfer to the husband’s or in-laws’ district should be provided.
Rameshchandra Sharma stated that recently a female village employment assistant met him. She informed that due to the absence of a transfer policy, she got divorced. The marital lives of many other female employees are also in crisis for the same reason. Following this, he wrote a letter to the department demanding a decision.
