Dunes Aviation has filed a ₹3 crore defamation suit against Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi, alleging that her “derogatory and irresponsible” remarks harmed the company’s reputation.
The case has been filed in the Gandhinagar Court. According to the company, Nora shared a video of a chartered aircraft on Instagram and described it as “small”, a “toy” and a “Lego airplane”.
Dunes Aviation has sought damages of ₹3 crore, along with a public apology from Nora and the removal of the related statements and content from social media. The matter will be heard by Senior Civil Judge R. Agarwal on September 25.
Nora shared video of Mumbai-Jaipur flight
According to the lawsuit, Nora recorded videos inside a Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft while travelling from Mumbai to Jaipur in December last year. In the videos, she allegedly used terms such as “small”, “toy” and “Lego airplane” to describe the aircraft.
Company claims remarks affected bookings
Dunes Aviation has alleged that Nora’s remarks were irresponsible and affected its business. The company claims that the actress, who has more than 46 million followers, had a significant reach and that her comments contributed to booking cancellations.
Claims bookings fell by 15-20%
The company has claimed that bookings fell by 15-20% following the incident, while cancellations increased. It has maintained that the aircraft was of a standard and appropriate size.
Dunes Aviation has also stated that the aircraft was DGCA-certified, airworthy, and being operated legally under a valid NSOP.
Company seeks ₹3 crore damages and public apology
Apart from ₹3 crore in damages, Dunes Aviation has asked the court to direct social media platforms to remove content containing the statements or references to the aircraft.
The company has also sought a public clarification from Nora Fatehi. As of now, it is not known whether Nora has issued any response regarding the case.
