Shashi Tharoor on India Gen-Z Protests

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor praised the country in connection with the recent Gen-Z protests in India. He said that India’s political system came under pressure, but did not collapse. Tharoor made the remarks during an NDTV program discussing political systems in South Asia and Gen-Z protests.

He also compared India’s situation with that of other countries where young people have taken to the streets in large numbers in recent years. Tharoor said that over the past decade or so, major youth protests have been witnessed in six prominent South Asian countries.

These include Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and India. The protests in all these countries were driven by different issues, but they all reflected Gen-Z anger. The governments of these countries dealt with the protests in different ways. India, meanwhile, adapted to the circumstances and managed the situation.
