Shopian Arrest: Hizbul Mujahideen Posters & Grenades Recovered in J&K

Security forces arrested six suspected terrorists during a check in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night. Two hand grenades and five posters bearing the name of Hizbul Mujahideen were recovered from their possession.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Junaid Ahmed Dar, Aamir Yusuf and Junaid Muzzaffar, all residents of Kulgam. The recovered items have been seized and an investigation has been launched.

Meanwhile, in Pulwama, security forces also arrested two suspected terrorist associates during a search operation in the Yarwan forest. They have been identified as Latif Ahmed Deedad and Ejaz Ahmed Bajad.

A pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and hand grenades were recovered from the suspects arrested in Pulwama. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the UAPA. Security agencies are investigating the source of the weapons and the duo’s links with a terrorist network.

Earlier, on Monday night, security forces recovered weapons in a joint search operation in Manjsir area of ​​Sopore.

An AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 72 rounds of ammunition, four hand grenades, and an IED were recovered from an abandoned house, according to officials. The investigation is ongoing.
