A video edited to make it appear that Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam was mocking Salman Khan’s singing while he performed ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ on television is going viral on social media.
In the clip, Sonu is seen holding his head and saying that he would burst into tears after hearing such singing. As the controversy surrounding the video grew, Sonu Nigam shared a post on Instagram explaining what actually happened.
Sonu Nigam called the video fake
Sonu clarified that anything can be shown on the internet and said that the viral video had been edited. He explained that he was not mocking anyone. In reality, he had become emotional and burst into tears after being moved by the singing of a Pakistani girl.

The original video was about Pakistani girl Hadia Hashmi
Sonu Nigam clarified that the video being shared as linked to Salman Khan is from 2020. At the time, actor Javed Jaffrey sent Sonu a video of the Nescafe Basement song ‘Bol Hu’, in which a young girl, Hadiya Hashmi, sang the alaap.
Sonu was so moved after hearing Hadiya sing that tears came to his eyes. He made and shared a video praising the girl at the time. Some people have now edited the old video with Salman Khan’s television performance and made it viral.

Singer Aneesh Matthews also revealed the truth about the original clip
Singer Aneesh Matthews also commented on Sonu Nigam’s clarification post and confirmed the truth behind the edited video. Aneesh said he clearly remembered that Sonu’s reaction was to child singer Hadiya Hashmi’s alaap in the song ‘Bol Hu’ from Nescafe Basement.
Other users also pointed out that videos are being misused on the internet to gain views and fuel trolling.
Controversy began over the credits for ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’
The controversy began with a social media post by Salman Khan Films (SKF). To mark 10 years of the film Hero, the makers shared a post about Salman Khan’s song ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ but did not mention music composer Amaal Mallik’s name.
Amaal expressed his displeasure on social media over not receiving credit. The makers later edited the post and added his name. However, Salman’s fans then began trolling Amaal and his brother Armaan Malik.
