Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar became emotional and broke down in the House on Tuesday after a BRS leader was accused of making objectionable remarks against him. BRS MLC Tata Madhu, who was accused of making the remarks, denied the allegation.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy condemned the alleged remarks, calling the incident a “black day for Telangana” and an insult to the state’s four crore people.
Revanth Reddy: Insult to Speaker is insult to society
Addressing the Assembly, Revanth Reddy said the use of offensive language against the Speaker and the alleged remarks about his family members could not be accepted in a democratic society.
He said the Speaker’s position was equal to that of all members of the Legislative Assembly and that insulting him amounted to insulting the entire society.
“This is a black day for Telangana and an insult to the four crore people of Telangana,” Revanth said.
The Chief Minister also alleged that a meeting of the BRS Legislature Party had been held at a farmhouse and that party members were instructed to create a disturbance. He accused BRS workers of attacking the police system and subsequently insulting the Speaker.

Revanth said such language against the Speaker was unacceptable irrespective of whether it was used during the era of kings, feudal landlords or democracy.
He said Dalit and tribal members of the House should view the alleged remarks as an insult to their communities as well.
“Someone may be a Dora, I may be a Reddy, or someone may be a Brahmin, but once someone becomes the Speaker, they are equal to all of us,” he said.
Congress Accuses BRS MLC, Tata Madhu Denies Charge
The Congress alleged that BRS MLC Tata Madhu made objectionable remarks against Prasad Kumar, a Dalit leader holding a constitutional position.
Tata Madhu, however, denied making any such statement. The allegation triggered a fresh political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the BRS in the Assembly.
BRS protest causes traffic jam outside Assembly
Tension had also erupted outside the Telangana Assembly on Monday when BRS MLAs wearing black clothes clashed verbally with security personnel after being denied entry.
Police detained BRS working president KT Rama Rao, former minister Harish Rao and other party leaders and took them to local police stations.
The BRS protest also disrupted traffic outside the Assembly, with a jam lasting around 30-40 minutes amid a heavy presence of party workers and police personnel.
The protesting BRS leaders wore T-shirts carrying slogans including “Congress failure in implementing guarantees” and “1000 days of failed governance.”
KTR: Congress has not fulfilled a single promise in 1,000 days
Speaking to reporters, KTR accused the Congress of coming to power by making “reckless and false promises” and betraying different sections of society.
He claimed the Congress had made 420 promises and assured voters that they would be implemented within 100 days. He said the promises had even been written on bond paper.
KTR alleged that despite 1,000 days having passed, the Congress government had not fulfilled a single promise.
