Speculation is growing that actor Dhanush could enter Tamil Nadu politics.
Ricky Radhan Pandit Vetrivel, who is described as Chief Minister Vijay’s astrologer, has claimed that Dhanush and Vijay could face each other in the 2031 Assembly elections.
Dhanush has not made any official statement about entering politics. However, at a recent film event, he told thousands of fans, “This unity should not remain limited to film events. Serve the public in your respective areas.”
On his 43rd birthday, Dhanush donated free auto-rickshaws to poor people and provided financial assistance to around 30 people to help them start earning a livelihood.
Sources close to the actor claim he is planning a tour across Tamil Nadu, where he is expected to meet fans and connect with people through public welfare activities.
MGR remains inspiration for actors entering politics
Political analyst R. Rangaraj said that M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) inspired an entire generation of film stars to enter politics.
He said actor-turned-politician Vijay has now transformed his popularity into political influence. According to Rangaraj, it would not be surprising if actors such as Dhanush, Suriya and Vishal also entered the race for the Chief Minister’s post in the future.
He added that such developments could weaken the political dominance of the DMK and AIADMK.
Fan club uses flag featuring Dhanush’s picture
Dhanush’s fan club has released a flag featuring a white and red star with the actor’s picture in the centre.
However, fan club president Subramaniam Siva said the group has been using the same flag for the past 15 years.
Political observers believe that organised fan clubs and public welfare activities, similar to those carried out by Vijay, could be part of a long-term political strategy.
