Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi is set to captain a team on the pitch, where every run scored will directly translate into a meal for the needy. RCL Season-4 promises a beautiful blend of sports, entertainment, and social responsibility, a tournament where victory is measured not just by the trophy, but by the lives touched and hunger alleviated.
The official announcement for the Restaurant Cricket League (RCL) Season-4 was made in Mumbai, amidst a glittering turnout of entertainment industry stars. While actors typically grab headlines for their films, shoots, or new projects, this initiative tells a different, more heartwarming story. Rakesh Bedi, who recently made waves with his performance in the film Dhurandhar, will step out from behind the camera to lead the ‘RCL Superstars-11’ as their captain.
Rakesh Bedi will captain RCL Superstars-11 and will also promote a social message with the team.
However, this league is not just about celebrities, bats, and boundaries. RCL Season-4 is associated with the ‘Hunger-Free India’ campaign. The tournament, which will be held in New Delhi this October, carries the key message: ’10 Runs = 100 Meals’.
This means that every 10 runs scored on the field will not only update the scoreboard but will also help provide food to 100 needy people. This time, every run scored by a batsman will help put food on someone’s plate.
Arvind Kumar, the founder of RCL and the ‘Hunger-Free India’ campaign, stated that this initiative was started to use cricket’s popularity for social welfare. He mentioned that while millions of people struggle to get enough food, a large amount of edible food is wasted. Therefore, food should reach the plates of the needy instead of going into the dustbin.
From farmers to the deaf women’s cricket team on the field
Teams from different sections and regions of society will participate in RCL Season-4. These include teams of transgender people, the Indian Women’s Deaf Cricket Team, farmers, influential personalities, chefs, Delhi Police, and Delhi Public School Indirapuram. A team of friends led by Chef Ratna Tamang from Nepal will also be part of the competition.
Former Indian cricketer Atul Wasan is also associated with this initiative. He said that the biggest feature of RCL is its social objective. In cricket, runs, records, and averages are usually discussed, but here every run can become a means of food for the needy.
Farmer and influential personality Jugaadu Kamlesh informed that farmers from Indian villages will also take to the cricket field this time. He stated that farmers feed the nation, and now those very farmers will play as part of this campaign against hunger.
Through RCL, cricket has been linked to awareness against hunger and food wastage.
Many people from the film industry, including actors Raza Murad, Sunil Pal, Bindu Dara Singh, Shahbaz Khan, and Arun Bakshi, were present at the event.
The objective of RCL Season-4 is not just to win the competition. According to the organizers, this time the runs scored on the field will also convey a message against hunger, food waste, and for social responsibility.
