UP Yogi Government Scheme: Financial Assistance for Women Voters

The UP government may implement a major scheme to target the women’s vote bank before the assembly elections. Under this, more than 50 lakh women will be given financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each.

The first installment of Rs 20,000 will be given before the elections. After the elections, if the BJP government is formed, 3 installments of Rs 10,000 each will be given. Deliberations on the scheme have started within the government.

In fact, after registering a big win in the Bihar assembly elections last year, BJP’s focus is now on UP. Just as Rs 10,000 each was sent to women’s accounts before the elections in Bihar, a similar scheme will be launched in UP.

Government will target women before elections

The Yogi government has geared up for the assembly elections. Amidst the Gen-Z movement, the government is considering a major scheme to woo the women’s vote bank. A scheme is being considered for women’s assistance, self-employment, and economic self-reliance. The scheme will be proposed through the Women Welfare Department. Under the scheme, providing financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to women is being considered.

Uttar Pradesh has assembly elections in 2027. CM Yogi faces the challenge of performing as brilliantly as Bihar.

Priority to women from families below poverty line

The government will prioritize women from SC, ST families, women from BPL families, and women from economically weaker families in the scheme. It may include women from families whose income does not exceed 12 lakh rupees.

Women’s scheme will be a game-changer

People in the government believe that the scheme of cash incentives for women can prove to be a game-changer in the assembly elections. Such a scheme was first implemented in Madhya Pradesh, then in Maharashtra and Bihar assembly elections. Due to those schemes, BJP governments were formed there.

Political analyst Virendranath Bhatt believes that providing cash assistance to women in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Bihar has benefited them in elections. If the government implements a similar scheme in UP, it will definitely benefit the BJP in the elections. There are about 5.67 crore women voters in the state. If women receive cash, it will impact the elections.

Women can also become game-changers in UP

BJP had a big victory in the Bihar Assembly elections. NDA had won 202 seats there. The unprecedented support and votes of women were considered the basis for NDA’s victory, which was more than expected. The reason for women’s inclination towards NDA was the 10-10 thousand rupees sent to the accounts of Jeevika Didis before the elections.

Ministers of the Yogi government, BJP officials, and political analysts also believe this. That is why, after Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Behna Yojana, Maharashtra’s CM Majhi Bahan Ladki, and Haryana’s Deendayal Lado Lakshmi, BJP is going to implement a game-changer scheme in UP as well to secure the votes of women and daughters.

Challenge of Mission 2027, Pressure of a Big Victory

BJP-NDA had won in Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Bihar. After this, the UP Assembly elections- 2027 are no less than a big challenge for UP CM Yogi, BJP, and ideological organizations. Although CM Yogi has already registered the record of being CM for the longest time and running a BJP government for the longest time. However, given the results in Bihar, the pressure for a similar massive victory has increased.

The assembly elections in UP will commence by the first week of January- 2027. Therefore, the government is going to launch a scheme for women as soon as possible.

Understand: What is Bihar’s Jeevika Didi Model?

The NDA government led by CM Nitish Kumar in Bihar implemented the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana (Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme). Its objective was to connect one woman from each family with self-employment. For this, one woman from each family was given financial assistance of 10 thousand rupees before the assembly elections. After starting the employment, the government will assess it. Following this, a maximum financial assistance of two lakh rupees will be provided to further expand the work.

The Nitish government transferred 10-10 thousand rupees into the accounts of 25 lakh women. Approximately 500 crore rupees were spent on this. In the assembly elections, the NDA received a massive majority with 202 seats. After this, all political analysts say that the 10-10 thousand rupees transferred to the accounts of Jeevika Didis (women associated with Jeevika self-help groups) played a significant role in this massive victory.

Now understand why BJP is targeting women voters?

Target one, achieve all

Political analysts believe – BJP strategists have understood that by targeting one woman in a family, she influences 5 votes. Especially, in families where women are given financial assistance, their votes are almost certain to go in favor of the concerned ruling party. In UP too, there are about 7.25 crore women voters.

98 lakh women in UP are engaged in self-employment

The State Rural Livelihood Mission is running in UP to make women self-reliant. Under this, women’s self-help groups of 10 women each are formed and linked to self-employment. Financial assistance is also provided by the government on subsidy. Currently, 98,76,389 women from 8,99,398 families are associated with these groups in UP.

Women can become the counter to SP’s PDA

BJP leaders believe that providing significant assistance to women before the assembly elections can counter SP’s PDA. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, SP’s PDA issue worked. As a result, BJP’s seats decreased from 64 to 34. After the Lok Sabha elections, in the BJP legislative party meeting, CM Yogi himself admitted that if elections were held today, BJP would get 188 seats in UP. That is why BJP is trying to woo women voters.
