BJP national president Nitin Nabin is likely to announce his new national team on Monday, with former Union ministers Anurag Thakur and Smriti Irani reportedly among the leaders who could return to the party’s national organisation.
According to News18, Nabin’s new team is expected to include a mix of experienced leaders and younger faces.
The organisational changes come after the Monsoon Session of Parliament as the BJP seeks to strengthen its national structure ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
Anurag Thakur, Smriti Irani may get key organisational roles
Anurag Thakur, the BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur, has held several key positions in the Union government, including Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. He has also served as Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs.
Smriti Irani is another prominent BJP leader who has served as a Union minister and represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha from 2019 to 2024.
She has also held key organisational positions, including national president of the BJP Mahila Morcha and national secretary of the party.
Their possible return to the national organisation is being seen as an attempt to combine experience with younger leadership in Nabin’s team.

Focus on upcoming elections
At 45, Nabin became the BJP’s youngest national president this year, with his appointment seen as part of a generational transition within the party.
The organisational reshuffle is also being viewed in the context of the BJP’s preparations for upcoming elections, particularly the crucial 2027 Assembly polls in states such as Uttar Pradesh.
Nabin takes feedback from UP MPs
As part of preparations for the next electoral cycle, Nabin has begun seeking feedback from party leaders at the grassroots level. According to party sources, he held individual meetings with around 20 BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh.
The discussions focused on caste equations, the political situation and the morale of party workers in their respective constituencies. MPs also shared their assessments of the organisation and local political conditions.
Strengthening the BJP’s support among non-Yadav OBC communities was also discussed, along with measures to keep party workers active and motivated at the grassroots level.
