
A hotel caught fire in the Birbhum district of West Bengal. Seven people died in the accident, and rescue operations are continuously being run by local authorities, PTI reported.
According to information, a large number of devotees had reached Tarapith due to it being Monday of the Sawan month. The fire broke out at around 4:30 a.m. on the ground floor of a hotel named Bidishini, located near Tarapith Police Station.
Rescue operations underway
Firefighters reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. The injured were rescued and taken to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
According to the preliminary assessment of the fire department, the blaze may have been caused by an electrical short circuit. After receiving information about the incident, police from Tarapith and Rampurhat police stations reached the spot and began an investigation.
