Earlier, on August 22, Rahul spoke for one hour and 16 minutes at the “Students’ Voice” event in Pune on women’s freedom and the issue of patriarchy.
He said, “A woman’s identity does not come from her father, husband, or son; she has her own identity.” Referring to the Manusmriti, he called the mindset that considers women the property of their fathers, husbands, and children shameful.
Smriti had said-If Rahul is a supporter of women, he should prove it
Responding to Rahul’s remarks, BJP general secretary Smriti Irani had said that Rahul Gandhi should first support implementing women’s reservation.
They should prove their point by implementing 33% reservation and supporting the singing of the entire Vande Mataram. Smriti said that the last two stanzas of Vande Mataram are dedicated to Goddess Durga.
