Madhya Pradesh is facing flood-like conditions in several districts following heavy rainfall. The Mandakini River is in spate in Chitrakoot. As a result, schools in Satna will remain closed from August 31 to September 1.
Some parts of Uttar Pradesh were also affected due to flooding in the Mandakini River. A bridge at Ramghat in Chitrakoot collapsed and fell into the river. Up to 5 feet of mud has accumulated inside homes.
Following floods in Nepal, water is being continuously released from the Kosi Barrage and Gandak Barrage in Bihar. This has left several villages flooded. In Bhagalpur, eight houses in Sabour were washed into the Ganga due to riverbank erosion.
Himachal Pradesh has been issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in several districts from August 31 to September 3. Since the monsoon began on June 30, 103 people have died in rain-related incidents so far.

In Gobariya village, Uttar Pradesh, 12 people who had remained seated on a peepal tree for nearly four hours were rescued safely.
The statue of Tulsidas in Chitrakoot has also been damaged. The portion above the shoulder was swept away in the floodwaters of the Mandakini River.
Several houses were swallowed by the Ganga River due to erosion in Sabour, Bhagalpur, Bihar.
The Shimla-Kalka narrow-gauge railway line has been closed due to soil erosion in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district. Ten trains have also been cancelled.
