Bullet mark on UP Police vehicle during the encounter
UP Police killed two shooters in an encounter in the Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan murder case. Police identified them as Sumit and Mohit, both residents of Sonipat. A ₹50,000 reward had been announced for each, and they were allegedly linked to the Gogi gang.
Shamli SP Narendra Pratap Singh said the two shooters were fleeing towards Sonipat on a motorcycle. Acting on a tip-off, police surrounded them on Monday morning. Fearing arrest, the suspects opened fire.
Police retaliated, leading to around 20 rounds being fired from both sides. Sumit and Mohit were shot during the encounter. Police took them to hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
The encounter took place in the Industrial police station area. According to police, the two men, along with two other accomplices, had allegedly shot dead Ankit outside a gym five days ago. The other two suspects, Satyam and Aryan, are still absconding.
