A case of the sexual abuse of a three-year-old nursery student at a private school in Delhi’s Bawana area has come to light. Police have arrested a cab driver who worked at the school in connection with the case.
According to the police, the accused lured the girl with chocolates and touched her inappropriately several times. When the girl’s mother noticed a change in her behavior, she asked her about it.
The girl told her mother about a “bad uncle” who came to the school and gave her chocolates. As the girl could not name the accused, her parents informed the school administration.
Accused identified after being shown CCTV footage and photographs
On August 24, the school administration showed the girl photographs of several people and CCTV footage. The girl identified the accused cab driver. The police were then informed, and an FIR was registered under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
The police subsequently arrested the accused from the school premises. The preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had been working at the school as a cab driver for the past eight months.
Accused of Misconduct After Taking Girl Under the Stairs
A police officer said, “The CCTV footage shows the accused walking around the school premises with chocolates in his pocket. It is alleged that when the girl went to the washroom, he followed her. He gave her a chocolate and took her under the stairs, where he allegedly behaved improperly with her.”
Police have also seized the accused’s mobile phone. According to the police, videos were found on the phone showing the accused giving chocolates to several young children.
Police are now working to identify the other children seen in these videos so that they can receive the necessary counseling. As part of the investigation, police have also taken the school’s CCTV footage into their possession.
